Nottingham Chamber Music Festival:
The Villiers Quartet
We’ve been on pause for so long. Now, it’s time to play.
The Villiers Quartet will perform an evening concert of music spanning almost two centuries: Beethoven’s last major work, Quartet in F Major Op. 135, written near the end of his life; and British composer Eleanor Alberga’s vibrant String Quartet No. 2, written in 1994.
Ludwig van Beethoven – String Quartet Op. 135 in F Major
Eleanor Alberga – String Quartet No. 2 (1994)
“Remarkable musical strengths…Fine performances,” BBC Music Magazine
Come and observe the inner workings of the Villiers Quartet – Quartet-in-Residence at the JdP Music Building, Oxford University – in rehearsal at 4pm. During this fly-on-the-wall experience, gain insights from these 4 dynamic musicians on how they work together to prepare for string quartet performance. Includes Q&A with the Villiers Quartet.
Nottingham Chamber Music Festival is proud to partner with the Squire Performing Arts Centre to bring two concerts to life: The Villiers Quartet performs music by Beethoven and Eleanor Alberga, and the all-ages Family Concert “STRING!” featuring the Gildas Quartet.
