So here I am. My first blog post at the Squire Performing Arts Centre. Writing about who we are, what we do and what we believe.
Our website succinctly states, that the
“Squire Performing Arts Centre is a home that inspires all generations to captivate, engage and enrich the world through the power of performance and creative education.”
This much is true.
We are a centre for performing arts.
Centre noun: centre; plural noun: centres
a place or group of buildings where a specified activity is concentrated.
performing arts plural noun: performing arts; noun: performing art
forms of creative activity that are performed in front of an audience, such as drama, music, and dance.
As part of the Nottingham Girls’ High School, we are here to educate our own students – teaching lessons in the studios and on stage, having weekly rehearsals for upcoming concerts and performances, as well as having the amazing opportunity to perform in the main house. But, we can offer these same chances to others through creative training and performance education, to further develop the next artistic generation.
We are a house for performance. Be it a touring comedian, an up-and-coming playwright to a new songwriter; we want to give creative talent a home and a chance to be seen and heard by new audiences.
As a venue and a place of learning we have a lot to offer all of the creative community. Whether you are a performer or a promoter, or one of welcomed audience members, please do get in touch. We’d love to chat with you.
